David Bennett

David Bennett is a Guest Professor at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Adjunct Professor with the University of South Australia. He is also an Emeritus Professor at Aston University in the UK and undertakes consulting in technology and operations management. Formerly he was Professor of Technology Management at Aston University before retiring from this full-time appointment. His main areas of consulting and ongoing research interests are concerned with operations systems design for manufacturing, management of technology and the transfer of technology between industrialised and developing countries, especially in the Asian region. He has undertaken various consulting and academic assignments for a number of international and national organizations. They include the European Commission (DG RDT and DG Trade), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the National Institute of Public Administration, Malaysia (INTAN), the David BennettChina-Europe Management Institute (CEMI) and the China-Europe International Business School (CEIBS). David Bennett has MSc and PhD degrees from the University of Birmingham. He is a Chartered Engineer in the UK, a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma (the international honour society for business), and a member of several professional bodies including the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT), the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA), the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). He is a member of the IAMOT Board of Directors as well as a past President of EurOMA. He has received the IAMOT Award for Distinguished Achievement in Management of Technology and the Association’s Award for Service to the Management of Technology Community. Currently he serves on the Peer Review College of the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council as well as being a regular reviewer for a number of other research funding bodies in the UK and other countries.
