Dr Phil Sams is the founder of Whitespace Stories, a consultancy business exploring relationships between the arts and science. Phil is a scientist whose background is industrial chemistry, with a long career as research scientist and “research entrepreneur” with Unilever.  His reputation is as a catalyst for, and champion of, multidisciplinary design/science collaboration to help industry make inspirational, sustainable use of new science and technology by engaging designer and fashion thinkers.

He is an Honorary Doctor at the University of the Arts, London with a remit to advise on the Better Lives programme at London College of Fashion, and he is a Visiting professor of Responsible Innovation at Northumbria University, UK.
