Jeffrey S. Russell

Dr. Russel is Vice Provost for Lifelong Learning, Dean of Continuing Studies, and Executive Director of the Consortium for Project Management at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In his role as vice provost and dean, he is responsible for leading the university’s programs and services for lifelong learners and nontraditional students.

Dr. Russell has earned a reputation as a leader in innovative project delivery systems. He is a respected researcher, author, and editor. He has published more than 200 technical papers in the areas of contractor failure, prequalification, surety bonds, constructability, automation, maintainability, warranties, and quality control/quality assurance. In addition, he has authored and published two books: Constructor Prequalification (1996) and Surety Bonds for Construction Contracts (2000). And he has served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Management in Engineering and as founding editor-in-chief of Leadership and Management in Engineering.

Dr. Russell has been honored with over 20 national and regional awards and nine best paper awards. His recent awards include Distinguished Membership of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in 2009, being elected to the National Academy of Construction (NAC) in 2011, and being elected as Fellow of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in 2011.
